Today marks a celebration. Today this blog begins its 4th year. Given that I write 5 days a week (M-F) on the written word and life, that feels like no small accomplishment.

 The virtual world is a scary and crowded place. Launching a blog feels like arriving at the Hollywood Oscars with a found ticket. I announce myself but no one knows who I am.

 After 3 years of blogging, I have visitors who, like comets, leave their thoughts as bursts of light and then disappear never to be heard from again. Others settle into orbit, silent or writing a thought occasionally. Each of these visitors is a star to me.

 The other day, someone forwarded information about a web address where I could discover my ranking among all websites. I discovered mine stands at 8,958,146. By comparison, Google stands at 5.

 Perhaps being ranked the 8 millionth should be an embarrassment, but I don’t feel that way. Readers have found me in the vastness of the Cloud. To them, I send this greeting. Thank you for a 4th year.

Portland, Oregon author Caroline Miller had distinguished careers as an educator, union president, elected official and artist/advocate.

Her play, Woman on the Scarlet Beast, was performed at the Post5 Theatre, Portland, OR, January/February 2015

Caroline published a serialized novelette, Marie Eau-Claire, on the website, The Colored Lens.  She also published the story Gustav Pavel,  a parable about ordinary lives, choice and alternate potential, on the website Fixional.co.
