A Jog Down Memory Lane

Writing a memoir is different from writing fiction.  That may be obvious at first blush.  Memoir deals with facts.  Fiction has no obligation to the truth. Both tell a story, however.  A memoir is about a real person.  Fiction presents an avatar to stand for some aspect of the human condition.  Each has a different set of rules and I’m learning them… slowly.

Fortunately, I’ve encountered good mentors, most of them fellow writers whose skills educate as well as entertain. My real-life editor is demanding.  I would have it no other way.  Given her rigor, I am unable to meet the demands of a daily blog.  If I had Hermione Granger’s time tuner, that might be possible. But I don’t.  I must choose where I place my energy.

Starting tomorrow and, for an undetermined period, I will set my blog, WriteAway to reruns.  Chris Webb, a dedicated reader, of these scribblings has volunteered to keep the blog alive with her choice of past entries. I thank her for volunteering.

Please remember, because of a change in copyright law, many of the photos which accompanied the earlier blogs have been deleted. The prose remains the same and I hope that, even without pictures, my readers will enjoy this jaunt down memory lane.

I’ll return to the blog the moment I can.  Thank you for your patience.
